Your gift pays for the emergency veterinary care that cats like Ted need.
Ted lost an eye to an air gun pellet—and a recent scan shows a second pellet still lodged near the bone where the eye was removed. He is being closely monitored and treated with antibiotics. Every gift, large or small, goes towards a £10,000 target for the care of cats like him.

Ted’s story

Ted was one of those emergency calls for desperate help. It came from a lady who had been feeding him as a stray. He had appeared with a terrible eye injury and was in severe pain, and she managed to get him to a vet.
The next thing we were told was that Ted was up on the operating table and they were going to put him to sleep. He would need the eye removed, he was thought to be feral, and he would need aftercare to avoid infection. He needed saving. Catastrophes had to respond immediately, and we said yes.
The next shock came after we took him in for post-operative care. We could see and feel a lump on his cheek. On closer examination we found a .177 air gun pellet lodged in it. Needless to say, being shot at was probably the reason he had lost his eye. The pellet worked its way out on its own—if you look closely at his face, you can still see where it came out.

Ted is not feral at all. He is a gentle boy who has blossomed with love and care, and he is lucky to have survived such a cruel attack. His treatment is not over. Ted is being closely monitored and treated with antibiotics: a recent scan shows a further air gun pellet lodged by a bone in the area where his eye was removed.

What your gift pays for
Ted is not unusual. A cat found injured needs surgery, medication and weeks of aftercare, and the bill arrives long before the money to pay it does. Your gift is what puts the next cat on the treatment table instead of leaving him where he was found.
Please give what you can towards the £10,000 that will pay for their care.
Thank you to everyone who is giving
