What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer, phone or tablet. Some are needed to make a site work at all. Others tell the site’s owners how the site is being used, or help them measure whether their advertising is working.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones, parts of the site, including the donation form, may stop working.

Strictly necessary cookies

These are always on, because the site cannot work properly without them.

  • CookieYes (cookieyes-consent)—remembers the cookie choices you made, so we do not ask you again on every page.
  • Stripe (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid)—used by our card payment provider to process donations and to detect fraud.
  • Cloudflare (__cf_bm, _cfuvid)—used to tell real visitors apart from bots and keep the site available.
  • WordPress (PHPSESSID, wordpress_*, wp-settings-*)—keep your session working. The last two are only set if you log in to manage the site.

Analytics cookies

Set only if you agree. They tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us. We use this to make the site more useful; we do not use it to identify you.

  • Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*)—visitor and page statistics. Provided by Google.
  • PixelYourSite (pys_start_session, pys_first_visit, pys_landing_page, pysTrafficSource)—records how you arrived at the site, so we know which appeals and links are working.

Advertising cookies

Set only if you agree. They let us see whether the advertising we pay for is reaching people and leading to donations, so that we spend the cats’ money well.

  • Meta pixel (_fbp)—measures the results of our Facebook and Instagram advertising. Provided by Meta.

Other measurement

Our host, Elementor, and our network provider, Cloudflare, both collect anonymous performance data about how quickly pages load. This does not use cookies and does not identify you.

Old cookies from before

If you have visited this site before, your browser may still hold cookies from tools we no longer use. They do nothing, and clearing your browser’s cookies will remove them.
